Sustained Kozai–Lidov Oscillations in Misaligned Circumstellar Gas Disks

نویسندگان

چکیده

A disk around one component of a binary star system with sufficiently high inclination can undergo Kozai-Lidov (KL) oscillations during which the and eccentricity are exchanged. Previous studies show that without source accretion, KL unstable disks exhibit damped oscillations, due to viscous dissipation, leave stable near or below critical for oscillations. With three-dimensional hydrodynamical simulations we highly misaligned circumbinary flows onto components forms inclined circumstellar each component. We continuous infall material allows continue. The produce shocks growth in affect conditions planet formation.

Evolution of Gas and Dust in Circumstellar Disks

A clear understanding of the chemical processing of matter as it is transferred from a molecular cloud to a planetary system depends heavily on the physical conditions endured by gas and dust as these accrete onto a disk and are incorporated into planetary bodies. Reviewed here are astrophysical observations of circumstellar disks which trace their evolving properties. Accretion disks that are ...

On the gas temperature in circumstellar disks around A stars

In circumstellar disks or shells it is often assumed that gas and dust temperatures are equal where the latter is determined by radiative equilibrium. This paper deals with the question whether this assumption is applicable for tenous circumstellar disks around young A stars. In this paper the thin hydrostatic equilibrium models described by Kamp & Bertoldi (2000) are combined with a detailed h...

Scattered Light Models of Protostellar Envelopes: Multiple Outflow Cavities and Misaligned Circumstellar Disks

Ground based imaging, imaging polarimetry, and recentHubble Space Telescope WFPC2 and NICMOS images of protostars have revealed very complex scattered light patterns that cannot be entirely explained by 2-D radiation transfer models. We present here for the first time radiation transfer models of T Tau and IRAS 04016+2610 that are fully 3-D, with the aim of investigating the effects on image mo...

Vortices in Circumstellar Disks

We discuss the physics of vortices in the circumstellar disks associated with young stellar objects. We elucidate the basic physical properties of these localized storm systems. In particular, we consider point vortices, linear vortices, the eeects of self-gravity, magnetic elds, and nonlinear aspects of the problem. We nd that these vortices can exist in many diierent forms in the disks of you...

Debris Disks around Nearby Stars with Circumstellar Gas

We conducted a survey for infrared excess emission from 16 nearby main sequence shell stars using the Multiband Imaging Photometer for Spitzer (MIPS) on the Spitzer Space Telescope. Shell stars are early-type stars with narrow absorption lines in their spectra that appear to arise from circumstellar (CS) gas. Four of the 16 stars in our survey showed excess emission at 24 μm and 70 μm character...
